The Unknown Bikers MC (Unknown Bikers Motorcycle Club) is a Brooklyn motorcycle club with a reported origin in Williamsburg. Its own trademark filings and club-associated pages identify it as a motorcycle club or social club, while later club-history sources describe a network of U.S. and international chapters.[1][2]
This page covers the motorcycle club, not the separate 1970s Williamsburg street-gang phase covered at Unknown Bikers. The club-history sources report a 1974 Williamsburg origin, but the surviving trademark record is a later filing that records the applicant's claimed first use; it does not independently prove the club's founding date.[1][2]
Brooklyn origin and MC identity
[edit]The club's later histories identify Williamsburg as its original base and describe that chapter as the mother chapter. A 2008 federal trademark application for “UNKNOWN BIKER'S, MC” identified the owner as Unknown Bikers MC, Inc. and described the mark as indicating membership in a motorcycle aficionado social club. The registration was issued in 2010 and cancelled in 2017 after the registrant did not file an acceptable Section 8 declaration; the cancellation does not establish that the club ceased to exist.[1]
The applicant claimed first use of the mark on June 1, 1974 and first use in commerce on November 1, 1995.[1] Those are trademark assertions tied to the filing, not an independently verified founding chronology. Contemporary reporting separately documented a Williamsburg street club called the Unknown Bikers in 1978; whether that street club became the MC, contributed personnel to it, or was later incorporated into its history remains unresolved.[3]
Polish influence
[edit]Later club-history sources report that Polish members began joining around 1999 and that Polish influence became especially visible in the Greenpoint chapter. They identify Daniel Sadowski as the reported president when that chapter was founded in 2010, describe a Polish-language club website, and note that some members wore Polish flag patches.[2][4]
The Polish connection is therefore presented as a later influence within the MC and its chapter network, not as evidence that the original Williamsburg street club was Polish or that all members shared one ethnicity. A Polish chapter page states that the Brooklyn mother chapter was the first branch in the club's history, but this is club-associated historical material and is cited as such rather than treated as independent proof.[4]
Reported chapters
[edit]Later club-history sources report chapters or club presences in the following locations:
- United States: the Williamsburg/Brooklyn mother chapter; other New York chapters, including Greenpoint and Coney Island; and a broader U.S. network reported by club-history sources.
- Puerto Rico: San Germán and Ponce chapters, with the sources placing the reported expansion around 2003 and the Ponce chapter around 2015.
- Poland: a Poland chapter or national presence, reported as established in 2012.
- Iceland: an Iceland chapter or club presence.
The list reflects the chapter network reported by later club-history sources, not a verified exhaustive directory. Chapter openings, present status and exact U.S. locations require confirmation from current club records or independent reporting.[2][5][6]
Patch and club identity
[edit]The 2008 trademark record describes a red, white and black membership mark featuring banners bearing “UNKNOWN BIKER'S,” a skull in a red helmet, a cross design and an “MC” panel.[1] The patch identifies the club's visual and membership branding; it does not by itself establish criminal conduct, alliances, rank or chapter legitimacy.
Media and reported conflict
[edit]A 2016 DNAinfo report described a Brooklyn motorcycle club called the Unknown Bikers after its move to Greenpoint and reported neighbors' complaints about noise and parties. The article also recorded a club representative's comments about the space and referred to other clubhouses in the city.[7]
One Percenter Bikers also reports a 2016 confrontation involving members of the Hells Angels and Unknown Bikers. Because that account is not a court finding or independent law-enforcement record in the reviewed material, the incident is not used here to assign criminal responsibility to the club or its members.[2]
Organizational limits
[edit]Unknown Bikers MC is treated here as a motorcycle club with a reported chapter network, not automatically as a criminal organization in the legal sense. The reviewed sources do not establish a complete current roster, formal rank structure, exhaustive chapter list or legal classification as an outlaw motorcycle gang. Claims about individual crimes, leadership, alliances and chapter status require separate corroboration.
