Bikers NY—also styled Bikers NY M.C.—is the motorcycle-club identity associated in later local Williamsburg histories with the earlier South 9 Bikers street gang. The available source describes Bikers NY as having roots in the South 9th Bikers and presents the development as a transition from a street gang to a motorcycle club.[1]

Bikers NY is treated here as a motorcycle club, separate from the broader Bikers article, which covers both the South 9 Bikers and the distinct Unknown Bikers street club. The evidence supports a reported South 9 predecessor relationship, but does not establish that every South 9 member entered the motorcycle club or that the transition occurred on a single known date.

Formation from the South 9 Bikers

[edit]

The South 9 Bikers were a Williamsburg street gang and neighborhood club active by the 1970s. A later local history identifies Bikers NY as the group's later motorcycle-club form and describes the earlier group as originally known as the South 9th Bikers.[1] The source does not provide a charter, incorporation record, complete membership list or precise date of reorganization.

The transition is therefore described as organizational descent rather than automatic renaming. It may have involved continuing personnel and neighborhood identity, but the reviewed evidence does not prove uninterrupted institutional continuity.

Motorcycle-club identity

[edit]

Later local photographs and commentary place Bikers NY in Williamsburg during the 1980s and 1990s and associate the club with former South 9 Bikers. The same material names Alicat and Snake in connection with the group, but does not independently verify every identification or establish a complete club roster.[1]

An oral-history feature describes the South 9 Bikers' earlier biker style, including chopper-style bicycles, later motorcycles and a Southside clubhouse. It also records Alicat's movement from the South 9 Bikers into that group in early 1980.[2] These details help document the path toward a motorcycle-club identity but do not establish an official affiliation with the Hells Angels or any other motorcycle club.

Bikers NY should be distinguished from the Unknown Bikers, which occupied a different section of Williamsburg and had overlapping social relationships with the South 9 Bikers. Shared neighborhood and biker style do not make the clubs one organization.[2]

Organizational limits

[edit]

This article covers Bikers NY as the later motorcycle-club identity associated with the South 9 Bikers. It does not include the separate Unknown Bikers, all former South 9 members, or every Brooklyn motorcycle enthusiast. The club's exact formation date, leadership structure, chapters and present status require additional documentation.
