==Later leadership phases== After Sabella's early leadership, the organization continued under figures conventionally including John Avena and Giuseppe Dovi. Angelo Bruno became boss in 1959 and led until his killing in 1980. Later administrations under Philip Testa, Nicodemo Scarfo, John Stanfa and Joseph Merlino were marked by prosecutions, leadership disputes and episodes of internal warfare. These names should not be treated as separate crime families founded at every succession. They represent changing administrations and factions within the Philadelphia borgata. Exact ranks and transition dates are strongest where supported by court findings or government evidence; retrospective charts and press labels require attribution.
