==Milazzo and Castellammaresi connections==
Gaspar Milazzo, born in Castellammare del Golfo, maintained strong links through Vito Bonventre to the Schiro family and to other Castellammaresi networks. Milazzo allied with the East Side faction associated with Angelo Meli, William Tocco and Joseph Zerilli. The alliance did not make the Milazzo group and East Side organization identical.

Milazzo and Rosario “Sam” Parrino were killed at the Vernor Highway Fish Market on May 31, 1930. The murders accelerated Detroit's factional conflict. They did not instantly create the Partnership or make Milazzo its sole institutional founder.
