==Castellammaresi lineage==
The family's roots lay in the [[Castellammaresi network (New York City)|Castellammaresi migration, kinship and Mafia milieu]] around Williamsburg. Sebastiano DiGaetano reportedly led the formative organization around 1909 or 1910; Nicolo Schiro succeeded him in 1912. After Maranzano's September 10, 1931 killing, Bonanno inherited the surviving borgata. The defensible sequence is:

This lineage contains substantial personal, kinship and institutional continuity, but each transition also involved recruitment, leadership change and coalition realignment.
